Later, when World War I broke out, Harold escaped from war and moved to the United States. He joined American citizenship in 1917. In 1918 he became the founder of the Beethoven Association in New York and became a visiting professor of piano at the Manhattan School of Music. In 1922, Harrods piano boarded the Times newspaper.
